Ashes to Ashes

ashes of death

Traditional Burial prayers: Forasmuch as it hath pleased Almighty God of his great mercy to take unto himself the soul of our dear brother here departed, we, therefore, commit his body to the ground; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope of the Resurrection to eternal life, through our Lord Jesus Christ; who shall change our vile body, that it may be like unto his glorious body, according to the mighty working, whereby he is able to subdue all things to himself.

I’m lying here in bed thinking about my poor mom and worrying about whether or not if she’s cold, warm, hot, sad, or worried about me while at rest in her grave. Now look I’m no fool I know she’s really not there but I can’t help remembering that picture in my mind of her body being laid to rest there at the veterans cemetery alongside my father even though we are all “Just Dust in the Wind. However, I do find myself a little confused with certain Bible verses concerning death because after all let’s face it they do conflict each other at times.

Here’s an example as to what I’m talking about many people believe that when you died you go straight to heaven to be with good, however,
Other people believe that you do not join god until the tribulation or rapture period. The following Bible verses listed below really do not confirm one way or the other. I just wish I knew for sure where my mother is and is she safe, sad, happy, comfortable, and I just don’t seem to be able to get the direct answers that I need from the Bible.  I guess this is one of the many reasons we have so many different religious and Bibles in our modern society.  However, I’m old school Hebrew 3:18 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Could someone please expound on the various scriptures that talk about death and the hereafter but also have conflicting messages.

Genesis 3:19    “By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.””

Ecclesiastes 12:7

And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Revelation 21:4

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Psalm 146:4

When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

Luke 23:43

And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
