Take The 5-Day Grief Challenge

FIVE-DAY GRIEF CHALLENGE

The Five-Day Grief Challenge (acknowledging your grief hurdles to overcome.)

We all face challenges when navigating the grief journey, including me. My biggest challenge was looking at my mom’s pictures without sorrow, but instead enjoying beautiful memories, not avoiding the pain of loss. I refused to look at her pictures unless it was for the group or business, not pleasure. Today I want you to write down all the grief challenges you must overcome in the comment section below.

I don’t know about you, but accepting a grief challenge helps measure how well I’m starting to accept that my mom is no longer with us and that I will never see her again. I’ve been trying to build up each month to conquer this particular grief hurdle I struggle with, even now as a grief coach. However, I strive daily to concentrate more and more on how well I’m adapting to my new reality without my mom and dad. Instead of worrying about how well I’m doing compared to another griever because no two people will grieve alike. Starting today, I have resigned to end this fear of facing my mom’s image. Any challenge that comes my way is a chance to reinforce what I already know about myself. That I am a Strong person. Do you know why? Because I survived the most challenging day of my life, the day of my mother’s death. Therefore, I can say confidently that I will successfully overcome any challenging situation on my grief journey. I am taking steps to move forward but gingerly to continue living my life how I know my mother would want me to.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What are some of the toughest challenges you are dealing with during the grieving process (what are your roadblocks to healing)?

2. How do your grief roadblocks, including personal relationships, affect your life?

3. What steps are you prepared to take to resolve these hurdles?
